Tip for excursions by bike
The Elbe cycle path, one of the most beautiful cycle paths in Germany, is just a few steps away from our hotel. We suggest two beautiful routes for a relaxing excursion.
Start: Romantik Hotel Bülow Residenz
Destination: Wackerbarth Castle (Wackerbarthstraße 1, 01445 Radebeul)
Duration: 45 min | Distance: 15 km | Height difference: 20 m
- You start at the hotel and cycle past the Japanese Palace directly onto the Elbe cycle path.
- Now you cycle 14 km down the Elbe on the Neustadt side of the Elbe.
- You will pass Pieschen harbour, Übigau Castle and the Emmaus Church in Kaditz.
- When the Elbe cycle path reaches Radebeul, you leave it at Altkötzschenbroda with its picturesque historic village centre.
- From there, follow Meißener Straße for another kilometre to the Schloss Wackerbarth state winery, which is very well waymarked.
- Discover the ‘wine summer’ amidst the picturesque vineyards of Wackerbarth Castle. Park your bike and stroll through historic steep slopes and enjoy the view. Let yourself be captivated by live music at the weekends (2-5 pm) and enjoy fine food in the stylish vineyard garden.
Start: Romantik Hotel Bülow Residenz
Destination: Pillnitz Palace & Park (August-Böckstiegel-Straße 10, 01326 Dresden)
Duration: 50 min | Distance: 14 km | Height metres: 25 m
- You start at the hotel and cycle past the Japanese Palace directly onto the Elbe cycle path.
- Now turn upstream along the Elbe. We recommend switching to the Old Town side of the Elbe at the Albert Bridge, as you can enjoy a more beautiful view from here.
- Cycle past the three Elbe castles and the famous Blue Wonder Bridge to Kleinzschachwitz, where you can take the small ferry to change river sides again.
- Pillnitz Palace & Park is the former summer residence of the Saxon royal family and is now the largest chinoiserie palace complex in Europe. The palace park with more than 2,000 trees and shrubs and over 600 potted plants invites you to take an eventful stroll at any time of year ( entrance is chargeable between 9am and 6pm). The palace museum in the New Palace provides information about the history of the palace complex and the courtly life of its owners, chinoiserie fashion and the festive and play culture of the Baroque period.
